Ever wonder what a human tastes like? Now is your chance to try a burger designed to taste just like a person's flesh.
What better way to kick off a new season of the Walking Dead than by biting into a nice plump human-flesh burger? If you actually got excited at the thought of eating your neighbor on a bun, you need help, but the rest of us can indulge without being completely sociopathic on Tuesday, September 30th when a special pop-up restaurant at Corbet Place in London hands out burgers carefully designed to taste just like human flesh…
Messhead, a food creative group spearheaded by Miss Cakehead and London Mess Chef James Thomlinson, researched real-life cannibals and recorded their descriptions of what human flesh actually tasted like, and they believe their end recipe is as close as you can get without going all zombie on your friends.
Messhead describes the burger as having the “taste and texture of beef, except a little sweeter in taste and a little softer in texture.” The burgers are made from pork, veal, chicken liver, and bone marrow, but the creators at Messhead note the recipe may need altered depending on the body part you’re trying to mimic…
The burgers will be given away from a custom built stand that recreates the apocalyptic feeling of Terminus where Series 4 ended. Those brave punters who want to know more about how to create the particular piquancy of person will be able to see the cannibal research in the form of an info graphic which the burgers will come wrapped in. A unique “The Walking Dead” condiment will also be on sale at Terminus Tavern, though best not to ask the source of that sauce!

*Makes 6-8 (Human) Burgers
400g pork mince
400g veal mince
200g bone marrow (minced)
Salt and pepper to taste, the less seasoning you use the more it tastes like human flesh!!!
Mix together the pork, veal and bone marrow in a large bowl
Firmly grind together the meat until evenly mixed
Add salt and pepper to taste, fry a little of the meat in a pan to taste and adjust seasoning accordingly
Shape the burgers using a 90mm cutter – if you don’t have one then shape by hand. You should use around 150g of the mixture per patty.
Cook the burgers in a frying pan on a medium hot temperature, frequently turning the meat often until you reach your desired colour.
Finish off in the oven at 180 for 6 minutes, or more if you like your human flesh well done.
