Top New Restaurants to Try in 2016 in Springfield, Illinois

When deciding on a place to go out to eat, it's horribly easy to get into a rut of going to the same restaurant time and time again. We'll check the online reviews of new restaurants, determined to find a new favorite place, only to wind up at the same place we've gone most Friday nights for the past decade. However, with the new year upon us, we can make it part of our New Year's resolutions to change things up a bit in our lives. If you live in the capital city of Springfield, Illinois, here are some newer restaurants in our city you should check out.

Pie's the Limit
A locally owned pizza joint that's generating a lot of buzz, Pie's the Limit combines good-quality ingredients with a fast dining experience. The main deal is $7.99 for an 11" pizza with unlimited toppings that they cook in about three minutes. They also serve pasta dishes and salads as well. They even have a gluten-free crust for those who have gluten intolerance or allergy. The pizza is delicious -- whether you prefer traditional toppings of sausage and pepperoni, or if you'd rather mix it up with some unique ingredients, like anchovies and pineapple.
3429 Freedom Dr. Springfield, IL 62704 (217) 679-4106
Open everyday 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Twisted Deli
What used to be the Grand Avenue Deli located near downtown has new owners as of late, and has become Twisted Deli, with a menu that is much better than the old place had. They're locally owned and try to source as many of their ingredients from local places as well. Twisted Deli has an amazing selection of sandwiches, wraps and flat breads, all of which are fairly cheap. It is definitely worth checking out, even if you didn't like the old deli that was there previously.
330 S. Grand Ave. E. Springfield, IL 62703 (217) 679-4896
Open Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. (Closed Sunday)

Pizza Ranch
Another pizza place that's opened up recently is the Iowa-based chain Pizza Ranch -- but don't let the fact that it's a chain let it keep you away. It has a surprisingly charming atmosphere and pretty good food as well. Pizza Ranch is known for its buffet, which doesn't just include pizza. In fact, you can find fried chicken, salads, plenty of side dishes, and desserts, of course. It's definitely worth checking out at least once for the buffet -- where you can pretend you didn't really eat that much.
1001 Lejune Dr. Springfield, IL 62711 (217) 679-8844
Open everyday 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Casa Real Cocina Mexicana
This is actually the third location of this locally owned restaurant -- the second to appear in Springfield. This west side location of Casa Real offers a lot of the same dishes that the other location has, but actually has a lot more items on it as well. The dishes are authentic and delicious -- not to mention they make one of the best margaritas in town. With art and decor that must have come directly from Mexico or Central America, the atmosphere is also amazing. Even if you love the first Springfield location, you have to check out the new one.
3100 W. White Oaks Dr. Springfield, IL 62704 (217) 303-5323
Open Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m.

Located on Springfield's east side, Bugatti's Bar and Grill is a great addition to a side of town that is generally filled with chain restaurants. They offer a great menu, as well, with pastas, steaks, pizzas, and seafood. In addition, Bugatti's has a great selection of alcohol and beer taps, which makes it the perfect place for an after-work get together. They also have live music now and then, which will hopefully become a more regular thing in the future.
3151 Horizon Dr. Springfield, IL 62703 (217) 679-1303
Open Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
