How to Celebrate Mardi Gras in Bad Axe, MI

While Bad Axe is a small town in a county at the end of nowhere without a formal Mardi Gras celebration, you can still create one of your own. You will need to gather a group of friends that is interested in getting together, getting their drink on, and having some fun. Make sure you tell them to wear those authentic Mardi Gras colors of gold, purple, and green. Then, follow these steps.

Step 1- Stop at the local Walmart, or maybe the Dollar Tree, and purchase some Mardi Gras beads and some other fun Mardi Gras items, like feathered boas and jester hats. Make sure you get plenty of beads; they may come in handy later.

Step 2- Take your group to The Gathering Place to get started on drinks, and have a great meal. They serve pizza, burgers and more. There's something for everyone in your group. They may not serve gumbo, but you can get a little spicy with some jalapeno poppers and some buffalo chicken.

This is just the beginning of the night, so you can take it easy on the drinks, and make sure you have a designated driver.

Step 3- Swing on over to Pete's Bar for a chance to drink the night away. Order a beer, or request a Pimm's Cup, a Ramos Fizz, or any other drink that reminds you of New Orleans. The more drinks you get in you, the more you'll start to swap out those beads you've collected. Now, if you're being authentic, the ladies need to flash for them, but hopefully you have some classier ladies with you that will save that for the private party (you don't want to get kicked out of the bar before the party is over).

Step 4- Pick a house for the after party when the bar closes and let your Mardi Gras party go all night. Stick some sleeping bags out so everyone that doesn't have a sober ride home can crash for the night.
