Five Places To Buy Music In Grand Rapids, MI

Whatever kind of music you are looking for, and on whatever medium, there are some excellent places in Grand Rapids to shop for music. You can find new music, used music, and even local music in some of these wonderful shops. You may also find history and nostalgia at some of the locally owned record stores.

Corner Record Shop

The Corner Record Shop, located on Chicago Drive in Grandville, is by far the best place to shop for music, especially vinyl, in west Michigan. This store has been in operation since 1999, and offers more than just music. They also sell DVDs, and do record player repair.

Vertigo Music

Vertigo is located on South Division in downtown Grand Rapids. It is a locally owned store that has been around for quite awhile, and is a very popular destination for people looking for certain types of music. It's basically the place to go if you want things that you aren't going to find at the chain stores. They also throw a killer Record Store Day party.

Dodds Record Shop

Dodds is Michigan's oldest record shop and it is definitely a museum of music and memorabilia. Dodds is located on Bridge Street. They host local music, have a Record Store Day party and parade, and you will always find helpful, smiling people when you stop by. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to peruse the records and collectibles when you visit.

Schuler Books & Music

Schuler Books is another staple in the Grand Rapids media store scene. There once were two locations in the Grand Rapids are, but the Alpine location closed. The 28th street location is easy to find though. While you'll mostly find new, and some used, books at this shop, they do also have a nice music section for your CD listening pleasure.

F.Y.E.

F.y.e. is a chain store that sells music and movies, and lots of other fun things, like toys and t-shirts. While they may be the only "chain" on this list, they do carry new and used vinyl and new and used CDs. If you are looking for something new or recently released, they just might be the place to find it.
