Tea Time: Five High Tea Destinations in Atlanta

As the weather remains nippy and the winter chill in the air lingers before spring arrives, there's no better time than tea. And with several locations throughout Atlanta offering high tea in the proper British tradition, complete with scones and other sweet treats to nibble, high tea is but a car ride away.

Dr. Bombay's Underwater Tea Party
This equal parts eclectic and rustic, vintage charm coffeeshop in Candler Park offers their high tea daily between the hours of 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. For $35 per couple, high tea at Dr. Bombay's includes a pot of tea for two, scones, assorted sweet treats, finger sandwiches as well as milk, honey and Devonshire clotted cream. Reservations are required within a 24 hour notice.

St. Regis Atlanta
Step into the lap of luxury at this esteemed hotel in the heart of downtown and stay for a cup of tea. Afternoon tea is only had at St. Regis Atlanta on the weekends, Friday through Sunday, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. For $40 per person, a fanciful selection of scones, macaroons, tarts and eclairs and several savory sandwiches are offered for an accompaniment with tea.

ZenTea Tea Shop
For a casual and more laid back environment with time and scheduling flexibility, Zen Tea Tea Shop offers high tea everyday at the time of your choosing, as long as a reservation is made in advance. Sample menu items include scones, mini spinach quiches and even scrumptious pecan bars and pricing starts at $24 per person. For groups of five or more, a deposit is requested to reserve the space.

Tipple + Rose Tea Parlor and Apothecary
One of the newer tea rooms in Atlanta, having only opened last June, Tipple + Rose Tea Parlor and Apothecary is a wonderland for tea enthusiasts and a cozy environment for high tea. More than 84 varieties of tea can be found at Tipple + Rose, those of which can sampled during their high tea between the hours of 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead
If jazz and sweet musical sounds tickle your fancy, then high tea at Ritz-Carlton Buckhead might be right up your alley. Wednesday through Saturday at 2 and 3 p.m. high tea is held in the Lobby Lounge at the hotel. Business casual attire is suggested and no reservations are needed.
