Celebrate Cinco de Mayo 2016 in Philadelphia

Cinco de Mayo is just a few days away, Philadelphia! Cinco de Mayo is not just an excuse to break out the tequila, either (though, imbibe responsibly!). Check out our top things to do to celebrate on May 5th:

"Border Crossings: Immigration in Contemporary Prints"
The Art Museum at La Salle University is hosting an exhibit focused on the contentious issue of border crossings between Mexico and the United States. The exhibit runs until June 9th.

Mexican Restaurant Week
Mexican Restaurant Week in Philadelphia, presented by the Mexican Consulate of Philadelphia and the Mexican Cultural Center, takes place between May 1 and May 6. Check out the great deals and delectable dishes at some of Philadelphia's great Mexican restaurants, like Las Bugambilias and Los Gallos.

Distrito's Cinco de Mayo specials
With a menu designed by Iron Chef Jose Garces, why not swing by the ultra-modern Mexican restaurant Distrito in University City, complete with classic car booths and luchador masks adorning the walls. $2 tacos and $5 margaritas all day, and a DJ starting at (you guessed it!) 5:00PM.

The Cinco de Mayo block party at El Rey
Stephen Starr's El Rey is stopping traffic on Ranstead Street and holding an epic Cinco de Mayo block party starting at noon and running until 10:00PM. Enjoy some south-of-the-border food and drinks while a live mariachi band plays for the crowd.
