Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Grand Rapids

For some people the 5th day of May each year is just another reason to get drunk, but for others it's a celebration of culture and freedom. Obviously you don't need to be from Mexico or of Mexican decent to celebrate, but for those that are it's more than just a party night.

However, when it comes to Beer City USA, Grand Rapids is all about the libations, so Cinco de Mayo is definitely a night to get out and have a drink. Why not celebrate the right way and have a Margarita, before you enjoy some of the locally brewed beers, of course.

Have A Margarita

With so many bars and restaurants in the Grand Rapids and surrounding areas, it's hard to take a step without finding a place serving some beer or cocktails. If you are ready to get out and have a margarita though, here are a few pf the best places to get one.

If you want some authentic margaritas, and some authentic Cinco de Mayo fun, go to Beltline Bar on 28th Street. Not only can you get some great deals on Margaritas and shots, they'll have a live mariachi band playing some authentic Mexican music. Enjoy some great food while you are there as well.

Lindo Mexico on 28th Street in Wyoming is also offering some great food, drink specials, and live mariachi. Donky Taqueria, located on Wealthy, has one of the best selections of Tequila in the area. They will be hosting live, local band Cabildo for their Cinco de Mayo celebrations.

Check Out Some Music

Just want to get out and have a drink, maybe enjoy some live music? Not worried about the Mexican theme, but just want to have a good time? Since it's a Thursday night there is plenty live music going on at the local bars for you to treat yourself to.

Mulligan's Pub in Eastown has live music with AstroBats, Hagstorm, and Dante Cope. They have great drink prices too. Enjoy some delicious food downtown at One Trick Pony, and listen to Grand Rapids' own David Molinari play some eclectic tunes. Or, check out some good old rock 'n roll with The Fever Haze at The Pyramid Scheme.

Support A Good Cause

If you want to support a good cause while enjoying a stiff drink, you can attend the Gran Fondo Volunteer Party at the BOB, where you'll learn how you can get involved and help fight cancer. They are serving Cinco de Mayo inspired foods, releasing a specialty ale for the holiday/party, and there will be live music.
