What to Do for Memorial Day 2016 in Grand Rapids

From bar hopping to running, and food to Memorial Day Parades, there are a ton of things to do in Grand Rapids this Memorial Day weekend. The bonus for most people when it comes to this holiday weekend is you get the whole weekend off, plus Monday for recovery, so why not have some fun?

For The Kids

In a city like Grand Rapids there is always something family friendly to do. Take your child to the Grand Rapids Museum for some history fun, or go to the John Ball Zoo and visit the animals. They even have a petting zoo. If your child has some extra energy pent up you might want to sign them up for the Krazy Kids Inflatable Fun Run on Saturday. They'll love the fun obstacle course designed just for kids.

For The Adults

If you like to stay fit and participate, the the HopCat Full Circle 5K Run is the event for you, happening on Sunday. This is also a run for the beer drinker in you, since each aid station has a beer just waiting for you.

If you'd rather just drink, and skip the running part, there are plenty of brewery options, this is Beer City USA, after all. However, on Saturday you can enjoy some a cider and mead tour with Grand Rapids Beer Tours. Hitch a ride and get a chance to partake in some tasty libations, perfect even for the gluten free patron.

Memorial Day Parade

Make sure you don't miss the parade on Monday. Lowell, just a little East of Grand Rapids, has a Memorial Day Parade starting at 10 am. Check your local suburb or area for any parades closer to you.

If parades aren't your thing, the Downtown Market in Grand Rapids is also celebrating Memorial Day, and those that have served. Stop in for Military Discounts and more.
