Three Rooftop Bars to Visit in Richmond, Virginia

Things are looking up in Richmond. To the rooftops, that is. One of the latest trends in dining and after hours socializing, the rooftop bar, has gained popularity across the country and Richmond is no exception. Richmond is not lacking when it comes to historic buildings with great views, and this is one trend we hope will hang around for a while.

Quirk Rooftop
Quirk Hotel, Richmond's newest artsy boutique hotel, is right at home in an Italian Renaissance-style building that was originally built in 1916 as a department store. Maple & Pine's rooftop bar at Quirk Hotel has 2,800 square feet of dining, lounging and event space with beautiful views of downtown Richmond. Quirk's rooftop bar makes a great spot for formal events, casual cocktail parties and after work get-togethers. While Quirk Hotel guests have first access (we wouldn't expect anything less), the unique rooftop atmosphere has become popular with locals. With whimsical art, reclaimed wood and a quirky attitude, we're sure Quirk Rooftop will be around for quite a while.

The historic Hofheimer Building
The Hofheimer Building was built in 1928 for the Herold R. Hofheimer Fine Rug Company. An addition was built 10 years later, and the rooftop work area was used for drying rugs. Located in the Scott's Addition neighborhood, that rug drying area is now a 3,600 square foot rooftop patio with sweeping views of the city. Ceramic wood-grain patio tile, solid steel construction and Revival-style architecture give this historic building an industrial feel.

Sunsets @ The Hof takes place on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mingle and network after work at this fun event that features artists, live music by local bands and DJs, weekly food tastings and drink specials by local chefs. You'll be spending local while supporting area non-profits.

Kabana Rooftop
Kabana Rooftop is taking tiki to the top. Twenty floors to the top, to be exact. Located on the 20th floor of Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn & Suites in downtown Richmond, Kabana Rooftop is a full-service restaurant and cocktail lounge. Rum, pineapple, coconut and fruity flavors play a large role in the cocktails at Kabana, as do actual cabanas. Other design features include long couches, a wading pool, weathered teak and cool shades of grey, black and white. What better way to check out the sunset?
