Celebrate National Eat a Peach Day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Monday, August 22nd is National "Eat a Peach" Day and what a better place to eat a peach then at a local orchard or farmstand. Pittsburgh's urban corners, rural parks and countryside are home to many fine orchards, family farms and farmers markets to choose from. Since National "Eat a Peach" Day is on a Monday this year, you'll have the whole weekend before to stock up on your peaches and pies. And just in case you are wondering...Wednesday, August 24th is National Peach Pie Day.

Soergel Orchards
Soergel Orchards is located in the North Hills of Pittsburgh in Wexford, PA. The peach harvest at Soergels takes place in July and their annual Peach Festival happens in August. The festival offers fresh peach products and deserts as well as tractor rides, pony rides and family entertainment.

Simmons Farm
Simmons Farm is located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh in McMurray, PA and offers seasonal pick your own peaches. Head out to the peach orchard and pick a peck and be well stocked for National "Eat a Peach" Day. If you can't make it out to the Simmons Rt. 19 Market or Simmons Farm Market in McMurray then visit one of their 14 farm markets in the Pittsburgh area.

Trax Farms
Trax Farms is located in Finleyville, PA and is known as one of the oldest and most well known fruit and vegetable farms in Pittsburgh and the South Hills. The peaches from Trax farms 3-acre peach orchard can be found at their in-house markets in late July and August. Visit Trax Farms for your National "Eat a Peach" Day celebratory peaches, seasonal peach pie or maybe sample some of peach jam or other freshly made peach desserts.

Find your National "Eat a Peach" Day peach at one of seven Citiparks Farmers Markets located within the City of Pittsburgh. All of the farm markets sell farm-fresh produce, baked goods and more. The Citiparks Farmers Markets are located in:
