A favorite place for many runners is the Genesee Valley Greenway, which runs parallel to the Genesee River. The trails here offer easy terrain and begin just South of Rochester and travel through Scottsville, Avon, Geneseo, Mount Morris, and Portageville. Mendon Ponds Park has a variety of routes that you can run easily. Most paths are marked well and maps are available at the park office. With ponds, woods, and even some hills, this park is not only scenic and peaceful, but it is challenging as well. Run alongside the Erie Canal for a calm and smooth running experience. This path intersects with the Genesee Riverway Trail and the Genesee Valley Greenway.
