'Pokémon Go' Tips: Top 5 Pokemon Gyms in San Francisco

In San Francisco, it's not hard to spot the masses of Pokemon Go players huddled in city parks and on street corners. For those not familiar with the game, these large crowds of players usually mean one thing: Pokemon Gyms. This meeting area is where players go to battle others with their toughest Pokemon for ultimate bragging rights. Here are five of the top gyms within San Francisco that are prime fighting ground.

Yerba Buena Gardens

This beautiful outdoor space that was named after the wild mint that used to cover the hills, is an idyllic place to duke it out with other Pokemon. Rumor has it that grass-type of Pokemon are the best bet for this location.

Coit Tower

This iconic city landmark has a Gym on top of the tower and with a 360 view of San Francisco, it's one of the most scenic Gyms. It's open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. For prices and holiday closures check here.

Lombard Street

Amongst the crowds of tourists, at the top of this crooked street is a Gym. Don't fear if you approach the street from the base, since there is no need to make your way to the top as the Gym is accessible from up to 15 meters away.

Union Square

This main square in the middle of downtown is unsurprisingly a popular gym where many Pokemon Go players go for a break from shopping at the nearby stores.

Crissy Field

In this beautiful waterfront location there are multiple Gym locations where the leaders are always changing with all the battles constantly going on. Just make sure to bring a warm coat, since it can get chilly out on these battlegrounds!
