The Best Spots to Celebrate Election Night in San Diego
On November 8, Americans will no doubt be feeling a roller coaster of emotions as one of the most dramatic election seasons that the country has ever seen comes to an end. Whether you want to celebrate the big win of your candidate, or party your sorrows away, there's a place to welcome you on election night in San Diego.
A casual sports bar with seaside views, Millers Field in Pacific Beach is a local watering hole where San Diegans come to both mourn and celebrate over a hot meal and cold drink. This two story venue offers a $8.99 steak special on election night, meaning you can feast on American fare while watching the election results clock in on the big screen.
Party Hosted by Impulse at Flicks
The nonprofit organization, Impulse, is hosting a party on election night at Flicks, a gay bar in Hillcrest. Despite who you voted for, drinks are on Impulse if you come wearing your "I Voted" sticker or absentee ballot in hand. The Young Professionals Council will also be around, judging voters on their costumes. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Ages 21+.
Celebrate at San Diego Beer Week
San Diego is the microbrewery capital in the world and from November 4-14th, you can join in on celebrating this craft at Beer Week. On November 8th, Beer Week will be having a Belgium beer night at the Thorn Street Brewery where you can taste over six different types of Belgium beer. If you're craving more of a sweet treat, head to the chocolate and beer pairing event that Beer Week is hosting over at Duck Foot Brewing Company. Both events start at 6 p.m. Ages 21+.
Top of the Hyatt
The Top of the Hyatt, located atop the 40th floor of the Grand Hyatt hotel will have you feeling presidential with its upscale atmosphere. Floor to ceiling windows offer a prime view of the downtown area, where you can watch boats drive in and out of the harbor, the lights flickering from Downtown, and planes depart from the San Diego International Airport. Order a cocktail (for a fitting name, choose the 'Last Tango') and raise it to President Obama, who will soon be handing over his title.
Wonderland Ocean Pub
Want a minute-by-minute play of the election results? Head to Wonderland Ocean Pub, where you can keep one eye trained on the beautiful sunset and the other on the screen of the TV (of which Wonderland Ocean Pub has many). Arrive between 3-6 p.m. to take advantage of the pub's happy hour.
