Best Dog-Friendly Activities in San Francisco

San Francisco is known for being a dog-friendly city, where there are plenty of businesses that cater to man's best friend. It's even rumored that dogs outnumber children here within the city limits, and it's not hard to believe this with all the dogs out and about all over the city. Here are five places around the city that are perfect for both you and your furry friend.

Baker's Beach

This scenic beach is a great place to bring your dog and let them go off-leash north of the Lobos Creek. On a sunny day, there is nothing better than bringing a picnic, and a neon-colored Frisbee to play fetch on the warm sand, with the view of the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop.

Golden Gate Park

The city's largest park is well known as being canine-friendly, and has four different off-leash areas throughout the park where your pup can run wild. To see the exact location of these spots, check the designated areas here.

Ocean Beach

This is another popular beach that allows dogs off-leash from stairwell 1 to 21. Go during sunset for a spectacular view of the Pacific, but make sure to bring a jacket for yourself (and maybe even your dog) because it can get mighty windy down there.

Park Chow

After a stroll through Golden Gate Park, grab a bite to eat with your pup at this popular Inner Sunset eatery. Dogs are allowed on the porch, which has heat lamps and doggie water bowls to keep your furry friend well hydrated.

Tartine Bakery

As one of San Francisco's most beloved bakeries, dog owners are welcomed to enjoy a meal on one of the outside patio tables. Make sure not to miss out on their famous morning buns or delicious croquette sandwiches.
