Wildest New Year's Celebrations in San Francisco


With massive balloon drops, themed parties, champagne toasts, and plenty of DJ sets to dance the night away, San Francisco knows how to ring in the New Year. Here are the wildest parties for those of you looking for an epic way to celebrate.

Passport to the World

Party the night away in the heart of downtown San Francisco at the luxurious Westin St. Francis Hotel. This top-rated celebration has been one of the go-to NYE parties for a decade. Wander through each room past taiko drummers, giant Buddhas, stilt walkers and dancers in lavish costumes. Dance the night away to 80s cover band the Spazmatics and singer/DJ duo Shane Mac & Wait What. Dress is Black Tie Optional. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $120.

IMAGINE: A New Year's Fairytale Gala

Indulge in make believe at The Payne Mansion in Lower Pacific Heights. Enter a world where there are 11 fairytale-themed areas with fantasy characters, dancers, singers, contortionists, illusionists, and theatrical décor. For culinary delights there is a champagne & oyster bar, cheese & burrata bar, and a lavish dessert bar to satisfy your sweet tooth. Live music includes classic standards by Old Hollywood Jazz Band, and DJ playing EDM, Top 40 and Mystical House Music. Dress code is Black Tie Optional. Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets start at $99.

If you want to celebrate the future with the recent past, this is the NYE party at the 111 Minna Gallery for you. DJ Dave Paul will be spinning popular tunes from the 80s and 90s all night for you to dance to. Plenty of sugar is provided in the form of a candy bar to keep you going until midnight and beyond. Ring in the New Year with a balloon drop and a champagne toast. Doors open early at 8 p.m. for VIP guests who are treated to a hors d'oeuves and drinks. Door open at 9 p.m for regular guests. Tickets start at $100

Speakeasy New Year's Eve Cruise 2017

Tired of the clubs? Then head out to the sea on the Fume Blanc Commodore, which one of the most popular NYE events in San Francisco. The theme is the Roaring 20s, where black jack tables abound, and candy girls hand out sweets, cigs and cigars. Two Top 40 DJ are spinning live on the boat's 1st and 3rd decks. Best of all the boat provides prime viewing for the firework show in Fisherman's Wharf. Dress code is semi-formal and flapper attire is encouraged, but not required. Check-in is at 7:45 p.m. at Pier 40, and departs at 9 p.m. sharp. Tickets start at $175.

San Francisco New Year's Eve PubCrawl

NYE parties can be pricy and it can be hard to justify dropping over $100 for one night. For a cheaper alternative, this pub crawl through the Marina District is the perfect solution. Participating bars have $4 drafts (domestic and selected imports), 2 for $17 premiums and champagne. Registration starts at Bar None anytime between (3-8 p.m.). Once you have your wristband, you can enter the bars anytime throughout the night. Tickets are $40.
