Best places to get naked around San Francisco this spring
Back in the day, it used to be easy to spot a naked person in San Francisco. Sometimes, they'd just jog down the street sans clothes in the Financial District, wearing nothing but tennis shoes. Or sunbathe while reading newspapers in the Castro. But, the naked became few and far between after the city passed an anti-nudity law in 2013. That being said, there are still places to get your naked kicks and feel the warm sun um, everywhere this spring. Here are five places where you don't have to bother wearing a thing.
This is one of the largest urban nude beaches you can find, right on the far west side of San Francisco. You can hop a bus down there and pick your way down the trail to Baker Beach, where you can sunbathe wearing nothing but your birthday suit. But San Francisco can be a cold, windy place, so be sure to bring a coat to wrap around your shivering naked shoulders if the temperature dips. On a warm day, this place is bursting with people who want to shed their ever-constricting attire.
Red Rocks beach is near the ever popular Stinson Beach, so be sure not to get your beaches crossed. Red Rocks has a small parking lot south of Stinson on Highway 101, and you'll pick your way down a long, rocky path to get there. Red Rocks is very popular on a warm day, with naked people playing frisbee, selling necklaces and rock climbing. It is small, tucked away in a rocky cove, but is the perfect place to drink a few beers and watch the waves roll in.
